Contact-sheet interlude

1 roll; 12 images; a choice to make.

Midday. The harshest light.

Burning sky and shadowed truck ain’t no friends.

I liked the last image because of the echoing lines between the worker’s arms and the pipes of the watering system.  About the same size too!
But the flowing water was too distracting. Crossed off.

I found it back in the fourth image. Arm and pipe even going the same way; echoed by the inverted square frame of his leg. The boot behind bringing dynamics to the image. The cut between the sky and the darker area of the truck gives tonality.
The balancing element is the handkerchief in the back pocket.

The “legs only” (#9) is unashamedly inspired by a photographer I’ve admired for 30+ year and who I had the privilege to meet when I was a young reporter. His work, his guidance, his address book and his darkroom sessions all helped so much when I was starting out, broke and hungry. I’ll always be grateful to him for these days and the indelible inspiration.
